History and tradition of the Bujinkan

The Bujinkan is an international organization created by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi to showcase and teach Ninpo and the nine ryuha (schools) he inherited from his teacher, Takamatsu Sensei.

The history of the Bujinkan traces its lineage back more than 1,000 years in Japan’s history, and oral tradition establishes that the foundations of the art came from India, through China, before finally settling in Japan and becoming the nine ryuha (schools) that we have today in the Bujinkan tradition.

The tradition of the Bujinkan recognizes nature and the universality of all human life, and is aware of that which flows naturally between the two parts:

"The secret principle of Taijutsu is to know the foundations of peace.”

”To study is the path to the immovable heart (fudoshin)."
